My spider web page backgrounds are all white. Text on news sites that is supposed to be blended across pictures at present are in white boxes that block out role of the images. Things like the folders on my Bookmarks Toolbar used to exist yellow. Now they take no color. I've tried every theme available and none seem to produce any effect at all. There is a web site I visit where I have selected dark and information technology is supposed to give me a black background and lighter letters. Nothing I choose works.
I restored a backup of the profile folder to no avail. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and null helps.

I may have found the source of my Firefox problem just non being a developer, I can't exist sure. I just read this article and it makes sense since this radical alter took identify without my making whatever changes. The web folio content, background colors in spider web pages and text that overlays some images have now self-corrected. I left the calculator several hours ago, made no changes, and came back to run across all web page content corrected. The only problem that remains now is the radical color alter of the Firefox menu bar, tabs bar, URL bar and bookmarks toolbar which seems to validate my theory that Mozilla did something that bankrupt colors on my system.
From the article:
Mozilla's Firefox 89 releases to the full general public today complete with the new Proton interface which simplifies the browser's menus and alters the tabs bar beyond anything we've seen from previous Firefox releases or other web browsers. From a written report:
This update also improves macOS integration and includes further privacy enhancements. The commencement thing that people will detect in this update is the Proton interface, the browser chrome and toolbar accept been simplified so that redundant and less oftentimes used features have been removed, menus take been altered so that the virtually used features are prominent and visual noise has been reduced.
Proton also updates prompts so they have a cleaner appearance and unnecessary alerts and messages have been removed. The fastened tabs take as well been supplanted by floating tabs; Mozilla says the rounded design of the agile tab "signals the ability to hands move the tab as needed." While well-nigh anybody will support cleaner menus, the new tabs are drawing the ire of some who are not pleased with the radical deviation from the traditional look and feel of tabs.

I've been following your thread.
I but updated FF from 86.0 to 89.0.
A page opened upwardly with choices of themes.
I declined and chose 'non now'.
Appearance seems the same.
I am on a Linux platform, however.
Considering it'south Puppy Linux and I don't save sessions, I tin at this fourth dimension, reboot and update FF all again.
I'll try the other options and report dorsum if there's a trouble.

No bug, just at that place are slight differences between the Linux and Windows versions to start with.
I'll test drive FF 89 for a couple days and post if I notice an upshot.
Practiced luck.
An aside, the power to change the gild of the tabs could be helpful/convenient for those doing a lot of enquiry with numerous open up tabs.

Problem Solved.
I uninstalled Firefox 89, deleted all Firefox-related folders in C:\Users, deleted all Firefox remnants left behind in C:\Program Files, installed Firefox 88.0.1. Everything is back 100% to what it was 2 days ago.
Then information technology was every bit I suspected, it was Firefox 89 that broke everything.
How practise I disable Firefox updates completely?

Cheers, but I know that. I see in there that an update 88.0.1 was installed in the v minutes it took me to set up a custom contour and that 89.0 is already downloaded and stored somewhere on my system. I want 89.0 update-in-waiting gone and I don't desire Firefox fifty-fifty checking, allow alone storing them on my system.
These kinds of things have a way of mucking things up backside my back.
I want my enemies outside the moat, non at my door.

I found this regarding disabling the Proton interface in FF 89:
How to Restore Classic Look in Firefox 89 and Disable Proton UI
https://winaero.com/how-to-restore-classic-look-in-firefox-89-and-disable-proton-ui/
A big thanks for that link, wish I had information technology before going back to version 88. I'll give information technology a try when I experience compelled to update beyond 88. I've copied all the text to my seemingly-endless, 25-year-long drove of notes (virtually of which are at present obsolete).
